Fire Sprinkler Pipe
Fire Sprinkler Pipe
Fire sprinkler pipes and fittings are normally composed of carbon steel or ductile iron and are used to transmit water or another liquid from one piece of firefighting equipment to another. It is also referred to as fire fighting pipe and fittings. Fire sprinkler pipes must be painted red (or covered with a red anticorrosion epoxy coating) in order to be distinguished from other pipeline systems, according to the applicable laws and standards. Fire sprinkler pipes demand a high level of quality control because they are often put in a static position.
Fire sprinkler pipe is sometimes known as fire fighting pipe or fire pipe; however, it is most commonly used to refer to fire sprinkler steel pipe. It refers to the materials used in pipelines for fire suppression, connecting fire equipment, and transferring water, gas, or other media. Due to particular needs, the thickness and material of fire sprinkler pipe, as well as red paint sprayed or epoxy coating to transport firewater, have special requirements.
PRODUCT FEATURES
production standard of Fire Sprinkler Pipe
- UL Listed Fire Sprinkler Pipe
UL Standard for Fire Protection Service Safety Metallic Sprinkler Pipe. These specifications apply to the metallic pipes used in water-based fire sprinkler systems for water distribution or valve trim applications. When properly placed, these pipes can be used in fire sprinkler systems.
- FM Approved Fire Sprinkler Pipe
Steel pipe for automatic fire sprinkler systems. This standard specifies the design and performance specifications for steel pipe used in aboveground fire sprinkler systems planned and installed in accordance with FM Global Property Loss Prevention Data Sheets. This standard applies to a steel pipe that has been furnace welded, continuous butt-weld, or electric resistance welded. Other production methods, such as spiral welded or seamless pipe, may be evaluated under this Standard if the intent of the Standard is met.
- ASTM A795 Fire Sprinkler Pipe
Standard Specification for Black and Hot-Dipped Zinc-Coated (Galvanized) Welded and Seamless Steel Pipe for Fire Protection Use. This specification applies to welded and seamless black and hot-dipped zinc-coated (galvanized) steel pipe used for fire prevention. The pipe may be bent; however, it is not meant for bending at room temperature with an interior diameter less than twelve times the exterior diameter of the pipe being bent. The steel must have the proper chemical composition. Each length of pipe must be hydrostatically tested to ensure that there is no leaking through the pipe wall. Each pipe should be tested with a non-destructive electrical approach as an alternative to the hydrostatic test if accepted by the purchaser. Finally, the pipe must be flattened in line with the specifications for electric-resistance-welded pipe and furnace-welded pipe.
- ASTM A53 Fire Sprinkler Pipe
Standard Specification for Pipe, Steel, Black and Hot-Dipped, Zinc-Coated, Welded, and Seamless. ASTM A53 is designed for mechanical and pressure applications, but it is also suitable for everyday use in steam, water, gas, fire sprinkler, and airlines. Subject to particular conditions, it is appropriate for welding and forming operations such as coiling, bending, and flanging.
- ASTM A135 Fire Sprinkler Pipe
Standard Specification for Electric-Resistance-Welded Steel Pipe. This specification applies to two classes of electric-resistance-welded steel pipes used to transport gas, vapor, water, fire sprinkler, or other liquids. The steel must be produced using either the basic oxygen or electric-furnace procedures. Steel can be cast as ingots or as strands. The pipe should be made from flat-rolled steel in individual or continuous lengths by electric resistance or electric-induction welding, with no extraneous material added. After welding, the weld seam of electric-resistance welded pipe to Grade B pipe should be heat treated or processed in such a way that no untampered martensite remains. The steel’s tensile and chemical properties are specified. Steel pipe specimens are subjected to flattening and hydrostatic tests. As an alternative to the hydrostatic test, a nondestructive electric test, either electromagnetic (eddy current) or ultrasonic, may be selected.
