API 5CT N80
API 5CT N80 oilfield casing pipe is available in N80-1 and N80-Q varieties. The chemical composition and mechanical properties of these two materials are identical; the only difference is in the heat treatment.
API 5CT N80-1 steel is heat-treated by normalizing and tempering, whereas API 5CT N80Q steel is heat-treated by quenching and tempering. As a result, the collapse and internal pressure strengths of N80Q are greater than those of N80-1. When the N80 case is used, the designer should clearly display N80-1 or N80Q.
Because of the high capability of N80 material, API-5CT casing pipes are widely used in natural gas, coal bed methane extraction, and geothermal wells.
