What is the Difference between api 5l x52 PSL-1 and PSL-2?

API 5L X52 is the international standard for pipeline transportation of oil and natural gas. The levels are PSL-1 and PSL-2. 

API 5L X52 PSL-1 Levels:

  • Used for pipes transported at low pressure.
  • Less stringent test requirements.
  • Suitable for standard applications in less demanding conditions.

API 5L X52 PSL-2 Levels:

  • Used for pipes transported at higher pressure.
  • Stricter quality control requirements.
  • Requires more extensive testing of pipe properties.

Mechanical properties tested include tensile strength, yield strength, and elongation.
